What can we say about ArtMRKT San Francisco other than THANK YOU.  ArtMRKT blew us away with an amazing show, beautiful presentation, and the organizers finally brought a bit of Art Basel home.  Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause…thank you both, we needed this in San Francisco.

We’re not going to get into all the details of ArtMRKT, just take a look at the photos.  This was one of those “must see” shows, be sure to catch it again next year.

Enjoy the photos from opening night.

May 12, 2011, San Francisco – With one week until the Thursday, May 19th opening of artMRKT San Francisco, co-founders of the newly formed Brooklyn-based artMRKT Productions, Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause, are busy preparing their international art fair for its San Francisco debut.

Featuring 65 modern and contemporary exhibitors, artMRKT San Francisco will take place this upcoming May 19–22 at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco’s downtown SoMa district. As the first of three art fairs presented by artMRKT Productions opening this year, artMRKT San Francisco marks a new chapter in Fishko and Wainhause’s previously successful endeavors and celebrates the launch of a significant and new San Francisco international art fair. Notes Fishko, “It is my belief that an art fair produced with the sincere intention to promote its participating dealers and their programs has the ability to improve the cultural environment in any given city.”

In addition to promoting artMRKT’s 65 participating dealers, including such renowned galleries from across the United States and abroad as Barry Friedman Ltd., Paul Thiebaud Gallery, Babcock Galleries and Cynthia Corbett, artMRKT Productions co-founders Fishko and Wainhause have made it a personal focus of theirs to honor the Bay Area’s artistic influences and cultural attributes. Notes Fishko, “San Francisco has a number of elements that define its arts culture and while it would be impetuous to say that we can encapsulate them all, we can say that each year we will provide a vehicle for the exploration of the work, movements, institutions and individuals that drive this unique creative and philanthropic environment.“

Building even greater excitement around artMRKT San Francisco’s opening next Thursday, May 19th are three exciting Bay Area focused events and collaborations.
