“Sketch for Japan: An Artist Fundraiser” will be held Monday, March 21 at Project One Gallery & Lounge and is organized by Warholian.com in partnership with Rise Japan. All proceeds will be directly donated to Give2Asia: Artists Help Japan – Earthquake & Tsunami 2011- a fund that is directly distributed to the people in the northern region of Japan.

RSVP to this event here:  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=191239814247836

We are asking participating artists to sketch inspired artwork, or donate any works that they may have laying around their studios for the fundraiser. All works will be priced at $50 or under (cash only). We will have the pieces displayed on a board (much like Sketch Tuesdays at 111 Minna) where visiting patrons can purchase the works immediately.

A large part of the Japanese community within San Francisco has had family personally affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami – this is our way of helping those currently in need.

The event will be held Monday, March 21st from 5-11 pm at Project One Gallery and Lounge located at 251 Rhode Island in the Design District of San Francisco- you can visit their web site at www.p1sf.com.

About the Fund that we are Donating to:
Artists Help Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Fund is responding to the needs of survivors through short-term to long-term recovery projects undertaken by the affected communities. The fund is founded by Dice Tsutsumi, an art director at Pixar Animation Studios. Dice was also behind the 2008 Totoro Forest Project to help preserve Sayama Forest in Japan and the Sketchtravel Project.

We are partnering with Give2Asia, which has a local team based in Tokyo, to assess the current situation and to obtain more information on the needs of survivors. Give2Asia helped the Totoro Forest Project, well-known in the animation industry, efficiently send funds to Japan in 2008 and has a great reputation when it comes to humanitarian efforts in Asia.

Organized by www.warholian.com and http://www.risejapan.us/
