Ernesto Yerena Montejano premiered his first solo show at White Walls to packed crowds and artists alike.
The exhibition is based on a story “written by the artist that details a revolutionary movement, GANAS, that is an ideology of reform, empowerment and motivation. The exhibition includes 45-50 pieces comprised of stencil and collage on canvas, and rubyliths [White Walls].”
Overall, Yerena’s technical skills are unmatched to most first timers. There are no doubts he has spent plenty of hours working as Shepard Fairey’s assistant on many projects; for within each piece lies the honed skills of an craftsman artist.
Much of Yerena’s unique color pallet has been taken directly from the ancient civilizations of his ancestors, which makes separates his work from his contemporaries. Composition is a strong point here (again, another nod to working with Fairey) and each piece comes together nicely to tell the story of Ganas 2020.
Overall, a great show. Wonderful work, and technically sound. One of the best we’ve seen in a while, make sure you check this one out.
Ganas 2020 runs from
November 13, 2010 – December 4,2010
